Lord Vishnu is the creator of Reiki. Lord Vishnu had established Reiki on Earth for the benefit of humans during the time of the ancient civilisations. Lord Vishnu has given this healing method as a gift to all humans. Reiki is a healing energy which was known to many people since ancient times.
In the ancient times, this healing method was called by a different name and was not known as Reiki. The knowledge of this healing method was restricted to a few people. The ancient sages of India also knew this healing method and were using it to heal people. Jesus Christ also used this method for healing people. As time passed, this knowledge was slowly lost to the common man, though it is still practised in a different form by certain sects of society even this day.
Mikao Usui was a Buddhist monk who was interested in finding a way to provide healing to people. He researched various Buddhist scriptures in Japanese and Chinese to find out the healing method. He was not happy with the information that he received from these scriptures. So, he learned Sanskrit and went to the Himalayas where he contacted various monks living in hermitages there and read the scriptures written in Sanskrit.
While reading these scriptures, he came across a method of healing the physical body through the use of divine energy. He asked the monks about this method of healing. The monks confirmed that this was an ancient method of healing practised by various ascended masters and sages including Gautama Buddha, but they did not use this method any more as they felt that the human body was not important. The monks wanted to concentrate more on the evolution of the soul instead. They also informed Usui that he would need to perform a very strict and difficult 21 day penance if he wanted to gain knowledge of this healing method.
Mikao Usui was determined to learn this healing method. He learnt the details of how to perform this penance from the monks. He then went to Mount Kuriyama in Japan. He sat down at the top of Mount Kuriyama and began the penance. The penance involved meditation and a strict fast for 21 days. He kept a stack of 21 stones next to him which he used to keep track of time. Every day, in the morning, he would throw a stone away to mark the passing of a day.
On the 21st day, he had thrown the stone marking the passing of the 21st day away, when he noticed a big sphere of white light coming towards him. It was early morning, and it was still dark. He was initially surprised to see this big ball of light coming towards him and did not know what it was. Then he stood still and allowed the light to come towards him. The ball of light was sent to him by Lord Vishnu as a boon for having completed the penance. This ball of light struck him right in the center of his forehead, in his Third Eye Chakra or Ajna Chakra. Mikao Usui fell down unconscious. While he was unconscious, he saw visions of the healing symbols, along with their names and their uses. He was also given instructions on how to attune other people to this healing energy. This was how Mikao Usui learnt this healing method.
Mikao Usui being a Japanese Buddhist monk coined a new name in Japanese for this healing method. He called this method “Reiki”. Reiki comes from the two Japanese words “Rei” meaning “Universal” and “Ki” meaning “Life force Energy”. “Ki” is a concept known as “Prana” in Sanskrit and as “Chi” in Chinese. Reiki means Universal Life Force Energy. It is the divine energy of the Creator of all there is. It is present all around us and it creates and sustains life.
The two main symbols of Reiki, Cho-Ku-Rei and Sei-He-Ki are derived from the two main symbols of Lord Vishnu which are the Sudarshana Chakra (Disc) and the Panchajanya Shankha (Conch).
Cho-Ku-Rei is described as a means for cutting away negative energy. Lord Vishnu uses the Sudarshana Chakra as a weapon to cut the heads of the asuras or demons. The asuras represent negative energy.
Sei-He-Ki is used for mental and emotional healing. Lord Vishnu uses the Panchajanya Shankha to produce a divine sound which calms the mind and heals emotional hurts.
Reiki is not a religious practice. It is not limited to any single religion. A person does not need to believe in any religion in order to use or benefit from Reiki. The person does not need to even believe in Lord Vishnu or in any God in order to use or benefit from Reiki. Lord Vishnu has established this method of healing energy on Earth in ancient times for the benefit of humans. The knowledge of this healing method was lost as time passed. Mikao Usui rediscovered this healing method. He gave it a new name of Reiki and spread this knowledge back to the world.
